NO MORE VICTIMS
Its been a crazy couple of weeks with the Ogden Marathon, getting the new Ogden STRIDERS open and preparing for the No More Victims Half Marathon, 5K & Kids K...but we pulled it off.  Thank You to everybody who helped out in some way.

Memorial Day was almost a disaster when the trusty Bronco broke down at midnight as we were setting things up, but brother Jason came through in a pinch with his truck, and alas, Memorial Day was a success!  We even got lucky with some mild temperatures and perfect running weather.  When it was all said and done, we all raised some money for the No More Victims foundation.  Thank You to all the runners who came out and ran and supported a great cause. We have extra shirts for sale at STRIDERS, the proceeds of which will benefit the foundation.

School is out (well, almost) and summer is here.  Be safe as you train this season for the many, many races and fun events in the upcoming months.  Let us know if we can help you in anyway; we'll see you on the road, on the trail, in Layton and now in OGDEN!

Peace.

Registration is now open for the 2013 NO MORE VICTIMS Memorial Day Classic races.  The Memorial Day weather was terrific in 2012, and as a result the turn-out for the half marathon, 5K and kids mile was awesome!  We were able to raise over $3,000 for the No More Victims foundation.  That money was able to help treat and support a lot of kids who have fallen victim to sexual abuse.

We're looking forward to 2013 and appreciate your support for a cause we feel needs to be addressed.  If you check out the video from last year, the stats suggest child sexual abuse is becoming more of a problem in Utah (Utah currently ranks 12th in the nation for the occurrence of child sexual abuse).

With the Memorial Day event, we hope to raise some awareness, educate and ultimately secure a little money for the people at the No More Victims foundation to help these kids (over 11,000 victims in 2011). The state provides treatment, and a jail cell, for the perpetrators of these crimes, but there's really no resources for the victims.  If you suspect any type of child abuse, please report it.

Attached is the 2013 registration for form, we'll have more details available soon at www.stridersrunning.com  Online registration is also open at www.strideracing.com

We hope to see you on Memorial Day, Monday May 27th, 2013 at the Syracuse Jensen Nature Park.

Child sex abuse is a difficult topic to talk about, but Kris and I are compelled to bring some attention to it in an effort to stop it and help those little ones who are dealing with it.

Thank you so much to all the runners, volunteers, friends & family who came out today and either ran or helped with the half marathon, 5K or Kids Mile.  It means more than you know.

We want to personally thank Ben Liegert from Syracuse City for being a class act and being so helpful this weekend.  You are AWESOME, Ben!

If you suspect a child is being abused in any way, please report it to the police immediately.

The stats in this video are 100% accurate.  Thanks Brian for the info and knowledge and thank you to your family and "peeps" for the help today.

Shirts and medals have arrived for the Memorial Day Classic Half-Marathon, 5K & Kids Mile.  We're very excited for this year's race for a couple of reasons:  The weather should be perfect on Monday!  If you remember last year; there was snow, rain and flooding along the course.  The forecast calls for mild temperatures and no wet stuff, so we'll take it.  We're also excited and honored to be raising some cash for the No More Victims foundation.  No More Victims provides support and counseling to young victims of sexual abuse.  There is basically no public money for victims of these crimes, so the foundation provides much needed help.

If you want to run to support the cause, registration is still available at STRIDERS and online at www.strideracing.com

The Half Marathon will start at 6:45am at the Jensen Nature Park in Syracuse; the 5K starts at 7:00am and the Kids Mile starts at 7:30.  Everybody gets a shirt, all half marathoners will receive a medal and awards will be given to the top 3 overall male & female runners and age group placers for both the half & 5K.

All Kids Mile runners will get a shirt and a medal.

For details please visit www.stridersrunning.com

STRIDERS will be closed for business on Monday, Memorial Day; but we hope to see you out in Syracuse.

PEACE!
