The temperature was 36 degrees when we started setting the courses up today in Huntsville and 62 degrees when we broke it down. We had a lot of fun from 36 to 62. The Huntsville Half Marathon & 5K was an event started by the track coaches at Weber State University as a community outreach tool and also a way to raise funds on a slim track & field budget. Many of those coaches are still at Weber and have some great stories on the history and behind the scenes of the old Huntsville race; Huntsville started the whole road racing craze we know today. Over 30 years later the event still has legs (literally). The Huntsville event has helped the track & field program at WSU purchase uniforms, send athletes on road trips, acquire new equipment and recruit student athletes to WSU. Today the track & field program at WSU is one of the premiere programs in the country and as alumnus, we feel proud to have helped in some small way. So, thank you to Weber State for letting us be involved. Thank you to all the sponsors and much gratitude to all the runners who come out and give life to the event. Congratulations to all the 2011 finishers; check out the results at www.strideracing.com
